GE's trailer unit marks 10-year online presence with new usage-based website design & features

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - March 1, 2010 - GE Capital Trailer Fleet Services has launched a new website design today, close to the 10 year anniversary of when GE introduced the first fully functional customer interactive website in 2000 to the trailer leasing industry. The announcement came at the annual Truckload Carriers Association meeting here.

"When we first launched our site during the height of the dot-com years, no one predicted the volume we currently receive today on our interactive customer portal," explained Communications & Marketing Leader Patrick Brennan. "Users in the trucking community have certainly joined their peers in the business world in wanting 24-7 access to account records, trailer specifications, and comparisons on which to compare value across suppliers."

Brennan noted that business websites have become critical tools for customer productivity. "With changing times comes the need for updated navigation and new content," he added. "At the same time, there's no need to go crazy with fancy graphics and java scripts that simply slow down the user experience and offer no added-value."

The new Trailer Fleet Services website reflects a simpler design based on the three primary ways customers use rental trailers: for Over-the-Road, Cartage, and Storage. The most significant addition in content is 19 new pages dedicated to reaching non-trucking customers for storage trailers. Each of these sections includes a link to a "printer-friendly" companion PDF flyer.
